چکیده

In the academic year 2001-2, Pace University CSIS students developed real-world Web and pervasive computing systems for actual customers. We describe the general use of team projects in CSIS at Pace University, the real-world projects from this academic year, the benefits of including real-world projects in the curriculum, and their cost in terms of the instructor load and the project development infrastructure. We found that the benefits of our method of structuring and conducting the realworld projects far outweigh the cost of providing them. The projects provide valuable systems for the customers, allow the students to develop technical and value skills, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, encourage student involvement in the university and local communities, support student and faculty research, enhance relationships between the university and local technology companies, and increase national recognition of the university.

Smart Classroom: Bringing Pervasive Computing into Distance Learning

In recent years, distance learning has increasingly become one of the most important applications on the internet and is being discussed and studied by various universities, institutes and companies. The Web/Internet provides relatively easy ways to publish hyper-linked multimedia content for more audiences. Yet, we find that most of the courseware are simply shifted from textbook to HTML files...

A context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...

With the rapid progress on the Internet Technology, many projects have been proposed in terms of remote education system such as WBT (Web-Based Training) and E-learning. Such systems can help learners for studying by themselves based on their own learning history in a virtual world. However, learners usually spend time in the real world during studying, exercising, and the other activities. It ...
